Willow Installation
December 2019, found video and sound, mesh, yarn, fairy lights, pillows
This installation aims to take the earlier project, Willow, into a new dimension. Rather than presenting a memory to the audience, I wanted them to experience it.
The viewers were asked to take a seat in a dark room illuminated only by the fairy lights and the projected video. The experience lasts almost 4 minutes during which the video presents a short montage focusing on the sound and aesthetic of the cicada.
Willow Installation reveals surrealist tones as well as delving into the more unsettling side of memory. The sound of cicadas overbearingly fills the room, the layered videos become hard to decipher, recreating the unreliable and the altering nature of memory. This project takes a turn from its earlier version into a more sublime realm.
