Collection

Nov 2022, colored porcelain clay, clear glaze, glass jar

During my experiments with mixing my own clay and glaze this semester at SAIC, I wanted to explore how the color of the base of the sculpture can change the final feel.

The porcelain body is lightweight and makes satisfying clinking against the glass and the other pieces.

Focusing on the theme of ‘collection’ these sea-like treasures are an ode to the seashell collecting I did in my childhood. It is an inherent human quality to collect objects that we deem special and worthy of collecting. All of these pieces feel unique and irresistible to organize together.
