The Birds II

The Birds II explores topics in surrealism such as “the double,” reflection, mimicry, death, intimacy with nature, and the subconscious. 

I used AI as a tool to create images of birds and further developed the inaccuracies until the form was obviously disfigured. These sculptures are based on collaborative images between me and the AI software DALL-E 2. AI is used to inspire the sculptures due to its nature as a collective digital consciousness, which brings into question natural life versus technology and sense of self versus the other. 

Through multiplicity of the distorted form of the bird, this piece plays with obscuring familiarity and brings about a feeling of uncanniness.
