Strange Cat
May 2020, acrylic paint and glitter glue on raw canvas.
Recently in my art, I’ve been exploring ideas of art content. Does art have to have a deeper meaning? Does it have to be serious and professional?
I want to challenge these notions by focusing on humor in the newest pieces I am making. I love art that is ironic, stupid, deliberately unprofessional, lighthearted, and funny. I think art like this is often underrated or rejected from sterile and serious environments like museums.
For Strange Cat, I was inspired by distorted panorama pictures I had taken of my cat. I wanted the outcome to be equally beautiful as it is funny. A smile from the viewer is should be more highly sought after!
